Trustee Awards: A Message from NATAS President Peter Price

May 30, 2005  •  Post A Comment

The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has for many years honored outstanding achievements by our Hispanic members at regional Emmy Award ceremonies conducted by our chapters across the country.

As Spanish-language television grows to become a major force in the industry it is our privilege to recognize six leaders whose achievements have advanced the significance and reputation of our business. These exceptional people were selected by an organizing committee of prominent Hispanic professionals who devoted days and weeks of their time to determining who among the many deserving individuals merited special recognition.

On behalf of our trustees, I congratulate the honorees and extend sincere thanks to our organizing committee.

Peter Price, president and CEO National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences

A message from SBC Chairman Ed Whitacre

Welcome to San Antonio and the first-ever celebration of excellence in Spanish television by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. The honorees tonight deserve their Emmys for being pioneers in their fields and for breaking the barrier into the American cultural media platform. This ceremony is timely and should be celebrated annually.

It is indeed an honor and a pleasure for SBC Communications to be part of this historic event. Tonight’s honorees represent the very best in Spanish-language television in the United States and add to the excellence and achievement the Emmys represent. SBC salutes these individuals and the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for bringing this event to San Antonio.

At SBC we are committed to the communities that we serve, and we recognize that our success is influenced by this commitment. That is why we are so excited to sponsor the first-ever Leaders in Spanish Television honoree ceremony. Through more than 120 years of service, SBC companies have earned a reputation of respecting the diversity of our customers, employees and communities. We are very proud of that tradition and we are committed to enhancing it through events such as this.

Congratulations once again to tonight’s honorees, and we hope you enjoy your stay in San Antonio.

Ed Whitacre, chairman and CEO SBC Communications
