Ad Spending on the Rise

Advertising spending for the first quarter 2005 rose 2.4 percent from same period last year, according to preliminary figures released Thursday by Nielsen Monitor-Plus.

Spanish-language showed the biggest gains, up 19.3 percent. Cable TV was up 12.4 percent and network TV gained 4.2 percent. Spot TV was down 4.3 percent in the top 100 markets and up 3.4 percent in markets 101-210.
