AOL Announces Live8 Telecast Partners

AOL, the primary North American media partner for the July 2 Live8 multicity concert, licensed the telecast rights to the event to MTV-which 20 years ago carried the original Live Aid hunger relief concert. AOL also licensed radio rights to Premiere Radio Networks and XM Satellite Radio. America Online will carry the multicity concert online at aolmusic.com. The concert, to be telecast from Philadelphia, London, Paris, Berlin and Rome, will not be carried on pay-per-view because it’s not a fund-raising event this go-round. Instead, the organizers say, they want your voice not your money in the fight to end world poverty. AOL will offer the concert online for six weeks after its initial airing. Kevin Wall is the executive producer of worldwide television for the Live8 telecast.
