Robbins Steps Down as Cox CEO

Jim Robbins is stepping down as president and CEO of Cox Communications, effective Dec. 31, when there also will be leadership changes at parent company Cox Enterprises. His retirement will end his two decades at the helm of the company that he grew into the country’s third most powerful cable TV provider.

Patrick Esser will succeed Mr. Robbins as president of Cox Communications. Mr. Esser has been executive VP and chief operating officer of Cox Communications.

Meanwhile, Dennis Berry will retire as president and COO of Cox Enterprises and will become vice chairman of the parent company at year-end.

Jimmy Hayes has been promoted to executive VP of Cox Enterprises and will succeed Mr. Berry as president and COO of Cox Enterprises Dec. 31.

Upon the Dec. 31 transition, Mr. Esser will report to Mr. Hayes.
