CNN has tapped its Midwest bureau chief, Edith Chapin, to become its New York and Northeastern bureau chief, effective Aug. 29.

Ms. Chapin was a deputy bureau chief and managing editor in New York before being put in charge of CNN’s Chicago, Dallas and Denver bureaus.

She will report to Jack Womack, senior VP of domestic news operations and administration for CNN/U.S. Ms. Chapin succeeds Karen Curry, who resigned in June after six years as the highly regarded New York bureau chief.
