Library of American Broadcasting to Honor NBC’s ‘Today’

The Library of American Broadcasting will honor NBC’s “Today” show at its third annual “Celebration of Giants” luncheon, Sept. 15, in New York’s Grand Hyatt Hotel.

A statement from the LAB reads in part: “‘Today’ has brought great favor upon the profession of broadcasting and service to the television public.”

“CBS News Sunday Morning” anchor Charles Osgood will host the luncheon at which tribute also will be paid to Bob Bennett, Marcy Carsey and Tom Werner, Ron Davenport Sr., Dan Rather, Lucie Salhany, Lester Smith, McHenry Tichenor Jr., Mel Allen, Red Barber, Bob Elliott and Ray Goulding, Johnny Carson, Gabriel Heatter and Fred Rogers.
