ABC, Fox Tie for Weekly Win in Demo

ABC and Fox tied for the No. 1 spot in the adults 18 to 49 demographic for the week ended Sept. 11, while ABC took the clear lead in total viewers.

ABC’s Monday night “NFL Season Opener” featuring the Oakland Raiders versus the New England Patriots was the top-rated show for the week in both total viewers and adults 18 to 49. “NFL” garnered 18 million viewers and scored a 7.7 rating in the demo, according to Nielsen Media Research. ABC’s pre-game “2005 NFL Showcase” took the No.2 spot in both total viewers (16 million) and adults 18 to 49 (6.4).

Fox rounded out the top five in adults 18 to 49 with Sunday’s “The Simpsons” (5.2), football special “The OT” (5.0) and “Family Guy” (4.5).

In total viewers, CBS was dominant on Sunday thanks to “CSI” (12.9 million) and “60 Minutes” (11.7 million), but Fox’s “OT” made the top five with 11.5 million.

ABC and Fox each finished with a 3.1 in adults 18 to 49, followed by CBS (2.6), NBC (2.0), and The WB and UPN (0.9).

ABC was tops in total viewers for the week with 8.3 million, followed by CBS (7.5 million), Fox (7.3 million), NBC (6.2 million), and the WB and UPN (both 2.2 million).
