Endeavor, TWI Form Joint Venture Transend

Talent agency Endeavor and sports programming company TWI have developed a joint venture, Transend, to help develop new media properties sold both domestically and internationally.

Ian Moffitt, former head of programming for Target Entertainment has been named managing director of the distribution company, which will be based in Los Angeles. Transcend has signed Court TV’s reality series “Vegas Law” and ESPN’s “Shaquille” and will be developing video, DVD and new media opportunities for both properties.

Endeavor’s client list includes Chris Rock, Adam Sandler and Martin Scorsese, while TWI is the broadcast arm of IMG, the global sports marketing agency, which represents the Olympic Committee and the Nobel Institute. Transend enters a market where Sony, Endemol and FreemantleMedia are the big global distribution players.

“The simple pitch to clients and others is great market strength, knowledgeable worldwide sales staff with a hungry, smart managing director who understands how the U.S. market can be monetized worldwide,” Sean Perry, an Endeavor partner said.

Endeavor clients are free to distribute their properties through companies other than Transend, Mr. Perry said.

“That would be perfectly fine by us,” he said. “It’s just an alternative.”
