MTV Networks said Monday that it has inked an agreement with Warner Music Group to offer music videos as part of MTV’s broader wireless strategy.

The deal, which the companies described as global and effective immediately, allows MTV to create and distribute new short-form video content that includes music videos from Warner Music for use on mobile devices. The companies said the deal marks the first alliance between a media company and a music company geared specifically toward mobile networks.

The content will be available on an on-demand basis via MTV’s various wireless brands. Each mobile service will determine how consumers can purchase the content, though the companies expect pricing to be offered on both a subscription basis and a la carte.
