For the second week of the season, CBS won Friday in both total viewers and the adults 18 to 49 demographic, with the 10 p.m. (ET) drama “Numb3rs” the No. 1 show for the night in the demo.

“Numb3rs” scored a 3.4 rating in adults 18 to 49, according to Nielsen Media Research. That beat time period competitors ABC’s newsmagazine “20/20” (2.5) and NBC’s new medical drama “Inconceivable” (1.5), which was down 29 percent from its series debut the previous week.

At 9 p.m. CBS’s new science-fiction series “Threshold” garnered a 2.3 in adults 18 to 49, down 8 percent from its debut the previous week. That tied the one-hour season premiere of ABC’s “Hope & Faith,” which was down 15 percent from its season premiere last year. NBC’s new reality series “Three Wishes” scored a 1.9, dropping 24 percent from its premiere the previous week, while fox’s “Killer Instinct” came in fourth in the time period with a 1.5, down 17 percent from its debut.

At 8 p.m. the top show for the hour in the demo (and the No.2 show for the night) was CBS’s “Ghost Whisperer,” which dropped 10 percent from its debut the previous week to a 2.7.

Fox’s “The Bernie Mac Show” grew 13 percent for the week to a 1.7, while the season premiere of “Malcolm in the Middle” at 8:30 p.m. scored a 1.5, up 25 percent from the year-ago time period premiere of “The Complex: Malibu.”
