Grasso Close to Taking Lifetime Position

Two months after the departure of two key programming executives, Lifetime is close to a deal to bring aboard former WB executive Maria Grasso, sources said.

Ms. Grasso was senior VP of drama development at The WB and previously headed comedy development at Warner Bros. Television. A Lifetime spokesperson had no comment.

The hire would be the latest executive maneuver since Susanne Daniels, herself a WB veteran, took over as president of entertainment last August. In September, Kelly Goode, senior VP of programming, left the network along with Bill Brand, senior VP of reality programming.

Last week, as part of an effort to skew the network younger, Ms. Daniels canceled veteran Lifetime drama staple “Strong Medicine.”
