For the first time since May 2000, two networks share bragging rights as the top-rated nets in the adults 18 to 49 demographic for a sweeps period. ABC and CBS tied for the top spot in the demo, with both networks scoring an average 4.4 rating, according to Nielsen Media Research.

The November sweeps, which ran from Nov. 3 through Nov. 30, marked ABC’s best performance in the demo in any sweeps since February 2001. For CBS, which won the total viewers race flat out, this was the second November sweeps in a row in the No. 1 position.

While CBS was down 2 percent from its November sweeps performance last year, ABC was up 10 percent year to year.

A strong showing by NBC last Tuesday with the finale of “The Biggest Loser” helped raise the network’s fortunes slightly to pass Fox for third place in the demo with a 3.3 average, with fox scoring a 3.2. NBC was down 18 percent from last sweeps, while Fox enjoyed a 7 percent increase. UPN averaged a 1.5 in adults 18 to 49, even with last November. The WB was down 13 percent from November 2004 to a 1.4.
