ABC Wins Week in Adults 18-49; CBS Wins in Viewers

ABC won the week that straddled the end of November sweeps and the first days of December in the adults 18 to 49 demographic, while CBS won the week in total viewers.

ABC’s Sunday night one-hour “Desperate Housewives” was the top-rated program for the week ended Dec. 4 in adults 18 to 49, scoring an 11.0 rating, according to Nielsen Media Research. “Housewives” lead-out “Grey’s Anatomy” scored a 9.4, followed by ABC’s “NFL Monday Night Football” with a 9.1.

In total viewers “Housewives” was at the top of the rankings with 25.5 million, followed by CBS’s Thursday night “CSI” (23.2 million) and “Football” (22.6 million).

Among notable special programming for the week, NBC’s two-hour finale of “The Biggest Loser 2” came in ninth in the demo with a 6.7, while CBS’s classic holiday special “Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer” was ranked No. 13 with a 5.8. In viewers “Loser” was ranked at No. 14 with 16.0 million and “Rudolph” came in at No. 16 with 15.8 million.

ABC won the week in adults 18 to 49 with a 4.5, followed by CBS (4.1), NBC (3.5), Fox (3.0), UPN (1.5) and The WB (1.1).

In total viewers CBS was tops with 12.9 million, edging out ABC with 12.4 million, followed by NBC (10.2 million), Fox (7.0 million), UPN (3.6 million) and The WB (3.1 million).
