Meredith Corp. said Monday that it has elected Stephen Lacy as president and CEO of the publishing and broadcasting company, succeeding William Kerr, who will become Meredith’s nonexecutive chairman.

Mr. Lacy had been president and chief operating officer of the Des Moines, Iowa-based company. The company said Mr. Lacy’s appointment is consistent with the company’s standard practice of executive succession.

Mr. Lacy joined Meredith in 1998 as VP and chief financial officer, and was promoted to president of Meredith’s integrated and interactive marketing group two years later. Later that year he was tapped to serve as group president of Meredith Publishing. He was named president and COO in 2004.
