NBC Universal Television Studio programming executive Laura Lancaster has been promoted to senior VP of drama and cable programming. Studio President Angela Bromstad, to whom Ms. Lancaster reports, made the announcement Tuesday.

Ms. Lancaster fills the vacancy left by Katherine Pope, who has moved to the top development position at the NBC network.

Most recently Ms. Lancaster was VP of drama programming for the studio and reported to Ms. Pope. Previously, Ms. Lancaster was VP of drama programming at Universal Network Television and jointly ran the drama department with Elisa Roth, who shared the title.

Before joining Universal in 2001 (then Studios USA) as an assistant in comedy programming Ms. Lancaster was head of production at Ellen DeGeneres’ Crazy Monkey Productions.
