Rosie O’Donnell, answering a question during the Television Critics Association press tour Friday at the Ritz-Carlton in Pasadena, Calif., told reporters of her interest in appearing in another television show.
She didn’t specify if her return would be as a talk show host or a performer. Ms. O’ Donnell’s last regular TV show was the syndicated strip “The Rosie O’Donnell Show.”
She said her interest in returning to television came about as a result of a conversation with one of her sons. The former talk show host was most recently performing on Broadway in “Fiddler on the Roof,” a three-hour show that she said interrupted her nightly routine with her kids. While discussing with her son what to do after the play, he asked that it not be a Broadway show, and said he preferred another television show.
Ms. O’Donnell said she is in “deep discussions” with a major media company about producing another magazine similar to Rosie, which folded in 2002. She added that she wants to start another magazine because losing control over Rosie was the worst experience of her professional life.
It was announced Monday at TCA that Ms. O’Donnell will partner with MTV Networks to produce a sketch comedy series called “Simply Sketch,” featuring up-and-coming performers, for the Logo channel.
