NBC Wins Ratings Gold in Viewers, Adults 18-49

With help from the first three days of the Winter Olympics, NBC was the top network for the week ended Feb. 12 in total viewers and the adults 18 to 49 demographic, but the No. 1 show in both demos was Fox’s “American Idol.”

The Tuesday edition of “Idol” garnered 31.1 million viewers and a 12.9 rating in adults 18 to 49, numbers that include live-plus-same-day DVR viewing, according to Nielsen Media Research.

The Wednesday edition of “Idol” was No. 2 in both demos, with an 11.4 rating in adults 18 to 49 and 28.7 million total viewers. CBS’s “CSI” was third for the week in viewers with 27.4 million, while ABC grabbed the bronze in adults 18 to 49 with an 11.3 rating.

NBC’s Sunday night Olympics coverage was the highest-rated games coverage for the week, garnering 23.2 million viewers in the No. 9 spot and a 7.5 rating in adults 18 to 49, grabbing the No. 8 spot.

NBC was the top network for the week in adults 18 to 49 with a 5.1, followed by Fox (4.6), ABC (4.4), CBS (4.0), The WB (1.5) and UPN (1.1).

In total viewers NBC garnered 15.6 million, followed by CBS (12.6 million), ABC (11.8 million), Fox (11.0 million), the WB (3.4 million) and UPN (3.0 million).
