Comcast will fire up Tandberg Television’s AdPoint capabilities in a phased approach over the next few months.

At the moment Comcast is using the system to automate the process of marrying ads with video-on-demand programming for the three networks, with additional on-demand content to be added soon. That process previously had been manual, said Paul Woidke, VP of technology for Comcast Spotlight.

Next month Comcast will allow local systems to place different ads into on-demand content so a viewer in San Francisco could see a different ad than an Atlanta viewer watching the same show.

By May or June Comcast will layer in another level of functionality, allowing ads on a local and national basis to be refreshed every week.
