United Talent Agency partner Chris Coelen is moving out of representation and over to production, where he will head RDF Media Group’s U.S. operations.

Mr. Coelen will oversee all RDF production in the United States and is charged with growing RDF’s U.S. production by selling RDF’s United Kingdom-originated shows and growing the U.S. development infrastructure.

He will also head a new RDF-backed management company, the Pangea Management Group, which will focus on selling scripted and reality formats from British and European producers in the U.S.

RDF Media has been producing in the U.S. for network and cable companies since 2000, including ABC’s “Wife Swap,” The WB’s upcoming “Survival of the Richest,” Fox’s “Banzai,” VH1’s “Gene Simmons Rock School” and TLC’s “Junkyard Wars” and “Faking It.”

Mr. Coelen joined UTA in 1996 and formed UTA’s alternative TV department in 2001, which includes RDF as a client. Before joining UTA in 1996 Mr. Coelen was an agent at the Agency for the Performing Arts, which he joined in 1992. There he created the agency’s first division representing news producers and on-air hosts. Before that he was a news producer at Fox Entertainment News. He was made a partner at UTA early last year.
