ABC won Thursday night among adults 18 to 49 with the two-hour premiere of its reality series “American Inventor,” eclipsing CBS’s NCAA basketball coverage and NBC’s comedy block.

“Inventor” scored a 5.4 in the demo, a number that includes live-plus-same-day viewing, according to Nielsen Media Research. That was a 13 percent increase over the average for time period holders “Dancing With the Stars” and “Crumbs.”

Despite “Inventor’s” debut, NBC’s “ER” was the highest-rated program for the night in adults 18 to 49 with a 5.8 rating.

The time period premiere of Fox’s “The Loop” at 8:30 p.m. (ET) scored a 2.0 in the demo, down 69 percent from its special post-“American Idol” debut on Wednesday (6.5).

ABC won the night in adults 18 to 49 with a 4.7 rating, followed by NBC (4.5), CBS (3.3) Fox (2.3), The WB (1.1) and UPN (0.9).
