ABC’s Oscarcast Down From Last Year

ABC’s Sunday broadcast of the “78th Annual Academy Awards” was down 9 percent in the adults 18 to 49 demographic from last year.

The three-hour Oscarcast scored a preliminary national rating of 12.8, with a 29 share in adults 18 to 49, according to Nielsen Media Research. The ratings included live-plus-same-day DVR viewing. Last year’s two-and-a-half hour telecast scored a 14.1/31.

Despite the ratings drop, ABC’s Oscars coverage, combined with its Oscars countdown programming during the 7 p.m. (ET) hour, outperformed all the other networks in the demo combined, easily winning the night with an 11.3 rating and 27 share.
