Brightcove Plans to Build Out with MetaStories Acquisition

Internet TV firm Brightcove said Monday it plans to acquire MetaStories, a provider of rich media publishing tools used by media companies such as Yahoo, Discovery Networks, National Geographic and Scripps to produce broadband video content.

“What we recognized in engaging with the market was that Internet TV was going to be about much more than just repurposed or repackaged traditional network broadcast programming, and more about creating engaging and compelling interactive media experiences that are centered in video but include audio, photography and interactivity,” said Jeremy Allaire, founder and CEO of Brightcove, an Internet TV service that lets small and large content owners distribute video on the Internet.

The companies did not disclose financial terms of the acquisition.
