‘Christine’ Debut Helps CBS Win Monday

CBS won Monday night in the adults 18 to 49 demographic, with two episodes of its new comedy “The New Adventures of Old Christine” outperforming previous time-period holders.

A preview of “Christine” at 8:30 p.m. (ET) scored a 3.8 in the demo, a number that includes live-plus-same-day viewing, according to Nielsen Media Research. That was up 6 percent from the season-to-date average for previous time period holder “How I Met Your Mother,” but behind the time period winner, NBC’s second half of “Deal or No Deal” (5.7), and the second half-hour of ABC’s “Wife Swap” (3.9).

“Christine” scored a 4.8 in the demo at 9:30 p.m., a 14 percent improvement over the most recent previous time period holder “Courting Alex” and 17 percent over “Out of Practice’s” season-to-date performance in the time period.

That was only good enough for second place in the time period for the night, however, with the second half of Fox’s “24” hitting a 6.0 in the demo at 9:30 p.m.

Monday’s top-rated program in adults 18 to 49 was CBS’s 10 p.m. drama “CSI: Miami” with a 6.3, followed by “24” (5.8). CBS’s “Two and a Half Men” at 9 p.m. and NBC’s “Deal” tied for third with a 5.3.
