Fox Wins Week in Adults 18-49; ABC Scores With Oscars

Fox was the top network in the adults 18 to 49 demographic for the week ended March 5, but the top show in the demo was ABC’s telecast of the “78th Annual Academy Awards.”

The Sunday night Oscars telecast scored a 13.9 rating in adults 18 to 49, a number that includes live-plus-same-day viewing, according to Nielsen Media Research. Fox’s Tuesday edition of “American Idol” was second in the demo with a 12.4, followed by the Wednesday “Idol” (12.2) and the Thursday night “Idol” results show (10.9).

In total viewers the Oscars was tops with 38.9 million, followed by “Idol” Tuesday (30.1 million), “Idol” Wednesday (29.6 million), and CBS’s Thursday night drama “CSI” (27.8 million).

Fox was the highest-rated network in the demo for the week with a 5.5, followed by ABC (4.6), CBS (3.8), NBC (3.3), The WB (1.4) and UPN (1.1).

In total viewers Fox was No. 1 with 13.5 million, followed by ABC (12.6 million), CBS (12.3 million), NBC (9.6 million), The WB (3.2 million) and UPN (2.7 million).
