MSNBC’s ‘Scarborough,’ ‘Cosby’ to Swap Time Slots

MSNBC is tinkering with its lineup. Starting Monday the cable news channel will move “Scarborough Country” from 10 p.m. (ET) to 9 p.m. and will move “Rita Cosby: Live and Direct” from 9 p.m. to “Scarborough’s” old 10 p.m. slot.

The time slot swaps are an attempt to capitalize on the ratings growth achieved in recent months by “Hardball With Chris Matthews” and “Countdown With Keith Olbermann” at 7 p.m. and 8 p.m., respectively.

“The Situation With Tucker Carlson” will remain at 11 p.m.

“Both Rita and Joe have great programs built around their unique personalities, and this change will support their continued growth,” MSNBC President Rick Kaplan said in an e-mail to the staff.

In a further attempt to expand sampling of “Countdown,” Mr. Olbermann’s show will get an encore at 9 a.m. weekdays starting Tuesday, April 25. “It is, after all, a program about ‘the stories you’ll be talking about tomorrow,’ so it should be a natural fit,” Mr. Kaplan said in the e-mail.
