Continuing their efforts to bring tough female personalities to the network, Oxygen has signed Shannen Doherty for a new half-hour reality series, “Breaking Up With Shannen Doherty.”

The show’s format combines the elements of hidden-camera and makeover series, with Ms. Doherty helping men and women stage elaborate tests to determine whether the partner is worth keeping or whether the relationship should end.

“Shannen Doherty belongs on Oxygen-she is the ideal addition to our roster of funny, fascinating and sometimes controversial women,” said Debby Beece, Oxygen’s president of programming and marketing. “We love that Shannen is honest and willing to tell it like it is, two qualities that are perfectly suited to help good people get out of bad situations.”

Oxygen has ordered 13 episodes of the series, which is set to debut in August. This summer Oxygen will also premiere “The Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency” and “Fight Girls,” a reality movie about female boxers.
