CBS Opens May Sweeps on Top

CBS got off to a strong start the first night of May sweeps, winning Thursday, April 27, in total viewers and adults 18 to 49.

The network won every half-hour in both demos from 8 to 11 p.m. (ET), with its 9 p.m. drama, “CSI,” the highest-rated program for the night. “CSI” scored a national rating of 8.7 in adults 18 to 49, a number that includes live-plus-same-day viewing, according to Nielsen Media Research. The program also was tops in total viewers with 26.9 million.

CBS’s “Survivor: Panama-Exile Island” was second for the night in adults 18 to 49 with a 5.9, while the network’s 10 p.m. drama “Without a Trace” was second in viewers with 17.9 million.

For the night CBS scored a 6.7 in adults 18 to 49, followed by NBC (4.0), Fox (2.3), ABC (2.1), The WB (1.6) and UPN (0.9).
