Adidas apparel, Hyundai and Vonage were the top advertisers during ESPN2’s June 9 coverage of the World Cup opening day games, according to Nielsen Monitor-Plus.

Adidas spent two-and-a-half minutes of commercial time, followed by two minutes each for Hyundai and Vonage. The games also aired on Univision, which promoted its own networks with two-and-a-half minutes of time during those games, according to Nielsen. AT&T and Miller Lite Beer were the second-largest Univision advertisers on opening day, spending one-and-a-half minute apiece.

T-Mobile Wireless and Budweiser Beers were the only marketers to advertise with both networks. T-Mobile spent one minute on Univision and one-and-a-half on ESPN2. Bud spent 30 seconds on each network.

McDonald’s, which has been a top World Cup advertiser in the past, was also a big advertiser on Univision, with one minute for its premium chicken and 30 seconds for the restaurant.
