‘Blade’ Carves Out an Audience

The two-hour Wednesday night premiere of Spike TV’s vampire action drama “Blade: The Series” was seen by 2.5 million viewers (2.3 million adults 18 to 49), according to Nielsen Media Research.

Viewership was double Spike’s second-quarter prime-time average and was the top nonsports program among men 18 to 49.

“We promised action and adventure with our first scripted series and really delivered,” said Doug Herzog, president of Spike TV. “‘Blade: The Series’ serves as a launch pad for future original scripted shows.”
