Tammy Haddad, executive producer of MSNBC’s “Hardball With Chris Matthews,” has been given additional duties as Washington VP for MSNBC. She will oversee political and election coverage for the news channel in addition to running “Hardball.”

In her two years at MSNBC, Ms. Haddad also became its prime-time political director.

“‘Hardball’ is the smartest political program on cable, and one of the reasons it is so good is Tammy Haddad. She is one of the most tenacious, driven and energetic producers out there,” said MSNBC General Manager Dan Abrams, to whom she will report, in Thursday’s promotion announcement.

Ms. Haddad is one of the original creators — and longtime executive producer — of “Larry King Live.” Her credits since leaving CNN in 1993 include a stint as a senior broadcast producer of NBC’s “Today” show and as founding executive producer of “The Late Late Show with Tom Snyder” on CBS.
