The Radio-Television News Directors Association said ABC News, WOOD-TV in Grand Rapids, Mich., and KTUU-TV in Anchorage, Alaska, are the TV winners of this year’s annual RTNDA/UNITY Awards, which honor commitment to covering cultural diversity.

RTNDA gives the awards with UNITY: Journalists of Color, a strategic alliance that advocates fair and accurate news coverage about people of color and promotes hiring practices that reflect the nation’s diversity.

ABC News was honored for its special “ABC News Primetime: Family, Family Found,” while WOOD received the award for a “Race in Reality” report. KTUU was honored for a “toothaches and heartaches” report.

The awards will be presented at an RTNDA dinner Oct. 16 in New York.
