Leading cable equipment provider Motorola said Tuesday that it plans to acquire Broadbus, which provides video-on-demand technology, for an undisclosed amount. The acquisition widens Motorola’s portfolio of tech services and gives it a stronger foothold in VOD as well as mobile video.

Broadbus technology is deployed in more than 60 cable systems with distributors including Comcast, Charter and Time Warner. Motorola is the dominant set-top box supplier for the cable industry.
