NBC named former National Hockey League player and coach Eddie Olczyk as lead game analyst for its broadcasts of NHL games. Mr. Olczyk, who had been an NBC studio analyst since February, replaces John Davidson, who is leaving broadcasting to become president of the St. Louis Blues.

“Eddie is a tremendous communicator and utilizes his playing and coaching experience as a broadcaster in a way that serves both the hardcore hockey fan, as well as the casual fan,” Sam Flood, NBC Sports Coordinating Producer, said Wednesday in a statement. “We were thrilled with his work for us last season and are just as confident that Eddie will thrive in this new role.”
