NBC has appointed former network current programming chief Vivi Zigler to the newly created position of executive VP for NBC Digital Entertainment & New Media. Replacing Ms. Zigler is longtime network executive Erin Gough Wehrenberg, senior VP of current programs, who will become the top executive in the department.

Ms. Zigler will now be responsible for leading the NBC.com digital team in strategic efforts to further connect NBC’s prime-time, late-night and daytime programs to Internet users. She most recently served for just over a year as executive VP of current programs for NBC, a posting that took some industry insiders by surprise since she had no creative experience in prime-time series production.

She previously served as the senior VP of marketing and advertising services for The NBC Agency and oversaw marketing and advertising for NBC Universal cable network Bravo.

In her new role she will report to Jeff Gaspin, president of NBC Universal cable entertainment, digital content and cross-network strategy. Stephen Andrade, who continues as VP of interactive development and business affairs for NBC.com, will report to Ms. Zigler.

Ms. Gough Wehrenberg now reports to NBC Entertainment President Kevin Reilly. She was named senior VP of current series at NBC Entertainment in May 2004, where her responsibilities include supervising all of the network’s scripted series. Ms. Gough Wehrenberg previously served as VP of comedy development.
