Art Bell to Exit Court TV

Art Bell, who has been in charge of Court TV since it was acquired by Time Warner, is leaving his post as chief operating officer effective Sept. 22.

In a statement, Mark Lazarus, president of TW’s Turner Entertainment Group, said Mr. Bell is leaving “to pursue opportunities outside the company.” Mr. Bell told TVWeek he had no immediate plans. He said things at the network “were going great,” but “the way Turner is organized, there’s not the kind of job there was for me previously.”

Mr. Bell had been with the network for eight years and was the No. 2 executive under Henry Schleiff, who decided to leave when the acquisition was originally announced.

In his memo, Mr. Lazarus said that while a new management structure is being determined, Marc Juris, who heads entertainment programming and marketing, and Marlene Dann, head of news, will report to Mr. Lazarus.
