‘Evening News’ Regains Ground Tuesday

After falling back to third place Monday, “CBS Evening News With Katie Couric” regained its footing, taking first place Tuesday in total viewers and adults 25 to 54.

“Evening News” garnered 8.6 million total viewers Tuesday, according to Nielsen Media Research. “NBC Nightly News With Brian Williams” scored 8.1 million viewers, while “ABC’s World News With Charles Gibson” brought in 7.9 million. Compared with the same night a year ago, CBS was up 16 percent in total viewers, while NBC was down 11 percent and ABC was even.

In adults 25 to 54, “CBS Evening News” scored a 2.3, rating, while NBC was in second place with a 2.2. ABC came in third with a 2.1.

CBS was up 10 percent in adults 25 to 54 compared with the same night last year. NBC was down 19 percent and ABC was down 8 percent.
