Starz Entertainment inked an exclusive deal Monday with Sony Pictures that expands the pay television business’s relationship with the movie studio to include video-on-demand and broadband distribution of films.

The new agreement gives Starz the rights to more than 500 movies in the Sony library and the ability to offer the titles on Starz’s channels, VOD and an online download movie service called Vongo.

The deal runs from 2008 to 2014, with the Vongo portion kicking in next month. Starz has already been offering Sony Pictures Entertainment movies on its lineup of channels. Films in the agreement include “Spider-Man,” “Men in Black,” “As Good as It Gets,” “Jerry Maguire” and more.
