YouTube Launches User-Generated Content Contest

YouTube on Wednesday launched a contest, The YouTube Underground, which aims to offer exposure to unsigned bands hoping to get discovered.

The contest, sponsored by Cingular, is a user-generated content promotion and the site’s first major music campaign and is part of its continuing advertising model for video entertainment on the Internet. Gibson Guitar and “Good Morning America” are also sponsors.
