Blip.tv Revamps Video Site

Video-sharing site Blip.tv introduced a new look to its service today. The makeover highlights top shows and the best episodes of the day, the company said.

Blip.tv is aiming to be a destination for independent shows and user-generated content online that’s a step above the quality of standard viral video fare. Also, Blip.tv added new capabilities to let video creators send their videos to their MySpace friends from Blip.

As video-sharing sites such as Google Video, YouTube and MySpace command the bulk of the audience for viral videos, smaller sites are increasingly looking for ways to differentiate their offerings. That includes emphasizing more professionally produced content and focusing on “shows” rather than clips or uploads of videos from existing TV and news shows.
