Brightcove Strikes Video Deal With Warner Music

Internet-TV technology firm Brightcove struck a deal yesterday that brings Warner Music Group’s videos online, marking the first deal for the label to commercially distribute its music videos, artist interview and live performances on the Internet.

The deal is noteworthy because music videos comprise a large portion of the content that’s uploaded to popular sites without copyright permission. Under this deal, Warner will use Brightcove technology across its network of artist and label Web sites to offer the videos free, accompanied by advertising, or using a pay-per-view model.

The deal also calls for Brightcove to syndicate the videos to other sites.
