Fox to Debut ‘O.C.’ on Web Ahead of On-Air Premiere

Fox will debut the season premiere of “The O.C.” on both MySpace.com and on the 24-Fox-owned local television-station Web sites on Oct. 26. The show will be available online for a week prior to its Nov. 2 on-air debut.

Online premieres of TV shows have become more common in the last year as networks use the Web to whip up enthusiasm for their programs. This deal marks the first time Fox Interactive Media, the parent company of MySpace, will offer full episode online in advance of the program’s on-air debut. The effort signals that Fox Interactive Media parent News Corp. is expanding its use of MySpace as a promotional tool.

The second episode of the series also will debut on MySpace and the local Fox Web sites in advance, Fox said in a Tuesday statement. Those two episodes will continue to be available on an ad-supported basis after their TV broadcast.

Fox also streams other shows such as “Prison Break,” “Justice” and “Vanished” online.
