Another midseason premiere fumbled out of the gate Wednesday night, with ABC’s new drama “Day Break” rising to disappointing ratings.

The evening started out well for ABC, with “Dancing With the Stars: Results Show” bringing in a 7.0 in the 18 to 49 demo to ensure a nightly win, according to preliminary Nielsen Media Research ratings. Then “Day Break” opened the 9 p.m. hour to earn a 3.7-which is about 20 percent less than the premiere of “The Nine” at 10 p.m. on Wednesdays earlier this season. Plus, the show drained nearly a third of its viewers throughout its two-hour opener, falling 29 percent from start to finish.

CBS was in second place with “Jericho” at 8 p.m. (3.0), followed by “Criminal Minds” (4.9) and “CSI: NY” (5.1), which were all roughly average.

Third-place NBC had a rough night. First “The Biggest Loser” at 8 p.m. lived up to its title, drawing its lowest demo audience to date (2.8). Then the two-hour season premiere of “Medium” also had its lowest rating to date (3.5), though still managed to outpace former timeslot occupants this season.

On Fox, “Bones” posted a 2.9, its best rating this season, followed by a “Bones” rerun (2.0).

The CW had “America’s Next Top Model” (2.2) and “One Tree Hill” (1.3).
