A new group of former professional ball players is ready to put armchair athletes in their places in a second season of Spike TV’s “Pros vs. Joes.”
The new 10-episode season is set to debut in January 2007.
Participating for the Pros are baseball stars Darryl Strawberry, Jose Canseco, Vince Coleman, Rob Dibble, Will Clark, footballers Michael Irvin, Eric Dickerson, Andre Reed, Kordell Stewart and Andre Rison and hoopsters Tim Hardaway, Rik Smits, Spud Webb and Kevin Willis. Hockey is represented by Grant Fuhr, soccer by Cobi Jones and tennis by Robby Ginepri. Other hard hitters include boxer Roy Jones Jr. and mixed-martial arts champ Randy Couture.
“Pros vs. Joes” is being taped at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. The show is hosted by Petros Papadakis, a former USC running back.
The first season of the series averaged a 1 household rating and was particularly strong among young men.
The show is produced by Mess Media and MY Entertainment, with Scott Messick, Michael Yudin and Joe Townley serving as executive producers.
