The two-hour finale of “The Biggest Loser” gave NBC a rare Wednesday night victory, helping the network squeak past CBS to win the night in the coveted 18 to 49 demographic.

“Loser” had a 4.8 rating, which along with a season-high 3.7 for “Medium” gave NBC a nightly average of 4.4 in the preliminary ratings. CBS averaged a close 4.3 with a strong hour of “King of Queens” (3.1 and 3.3) followed by “Criminal Minds” (4.7) and “CSI: NY” (4.9).

In a distant third place with a 2.6 average was Fox with two episodes of “Bones,” an original (2.9) and a repeat (2.2).

Season-to-date leader ABC had a rough night. First its game show “Show Me the Money” hit a series low 1.6. Then “Day Break” continued to fall, to a series low 1.4. “Primetime” gave ABC its highest rating of the night with a 1.8.

The CW launched a two-hour “America’s Next Top Model: British Invasion” special, which earned a modest 1.0.
