Sunday night’s AFC Championship Game was the highest-rated non-Super Bowl NFL matchup in six years.

The game between New England and Indianapolis received a 16.1 rating for CBS among adults 18 to 49, easily giving CBS a win for the night. That’s up 18 percent over last year’s equivalent game, the NFC Championship, which aired on Fox. The game was followed on CBS by a highly rated “Without a Trace” (6.4).

In a very distant second place was ABC, whose Sunday night flagship “Desperate Housewives” continued to decline (6.6), hitting a series low. “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” (4.8) and “Brothers & Sister” (4.6) also struggled against the football competition.

In third place, NBC led off with “Deal or No Deal” (2.4), followed by “Grease You’re the One That I Want” (2.8) and “The Apprentice” (2.8). The reality shows matched their performances of last week, which were both down significantly from their premieres.

On fourth-place Fox, the comedy slate was mostly in repeats and averaged a 2.3.
