The BCS championship game gave Fox a huge victory Monday night, besting its closest competitor by more than double. The game pulled a 10 rating among adults 18 to 49, according to preliminary Nielsen Media Research data, which gave Fox its best Monday night in three years.

The CBS comedy block came in second, with slightly low “How I Met Your Mother” (3.1), followed by average episodes of “The Class” (2.9) and “Two and a Half Men” (4.7) and a slightly high “Old Christine” (4.1). At 10 p.m., “CSI: Miami” (5.1) was about average.

ABC was in third place, with “Wife Swap” (3.3) and “Supernanny” (3.2) growing slightly from their last original airings, followed by “What About Brian” (2.0), which tied its season-low rating.

NBC was fourth with “Deal or No Deal” sinking to its lowest rating in 14 weeks (3.9), followed by a pair of “Heroes” repeats (2.1 and 1.8).

The CW rated a 0.8 average with reruns of its comedy block.
