Google Expands Video Syndication Test

Google plans to match videos from music labels Warner Music Group and Sony BMG Entertainment with Web ads using its AdSense network of sites, marking an expansion of its online syndication efforts.

The company shared details of the plan yesterday on its own blog posting. Under the experiment, Google will allow its Web site partners in the AdSense network to offer the videos as playlists on their sites. Google said a number of small and large Web sites will participate.

This latest test follows Google’s groundbreaking partnership last year to syndicate video from MTV Networks across thematically related Web sites, marking one of the first deals in the growing online video syndication business. Syndication populates far-flung corners of the Web with video, thus expanding the amount of online video inventory for advertisers who are eager to market their products and services on the Internet.
