A&E promoted Robert Sharenow to senior VP of nonfiction and alternative programming. He assumes some of the responsibilities of Nancy Dubuc, who was named general manager of The History Channel last month.

Mr. Sharenow had been VP of nonfiction and alternative programming at A&E. He’s been with the network since March 2003 and helped develop “Growing Up Gotti” and “Intervention” and executive produced “Dog the Bounty Hunter,” “Criss Angel Mindfreak” and “Gene Simmons Family Jewels.”

“Rob is an innovative programmer who has been responsible for some of the network’s most successful series,” said Bob DeBitetto, executive VP and general manager of A&E. “He is expert at developing and producing buzz-worthy shows that stand out from the pack, deliver with advertisers and connect with our audience.”
