Popular characters never get old in animation. That’s why the cartoons “Krypto the Superdog” and “Gerald McBoing Boing” are being added to Boomerang’s lineup next week.
“‘Krypto the Superdog’ and ‘Gerald McBoing Boing’ are two new programs that every parent will want their young children to enjoy,” said Mark Norman, senior VP of business operations for Boomerang. Boomerang is Cartoon Network’s channel featuring classic animation.
“Both programs were created to inspire humor and imagination in younger viewers. They each present exciting adventures that will soon absorb kids into the new, fantastic worlds that Krypto and Gerald inhabit. And because parents are likely already familiar with the characters, they too will find themselves laughing along with their kid,” Mr. Norman said.
For those who didn’t watch cartoons when they were young, Krypto, the canine companion of Super Boy, has an array of powers, including super strength, super hearing and X-ray vision, and can fly. Boomerang will run one of the series’ 39 episodes weeknights at 7 p.m., except for a Christmas episode, which won’t air until December.
The “Gerald McBoing Boing” series was adapted from a short film based on a story by Dr. Seuss. Gerald is a little boy who doesn’t speak, but is able to imitate other sounds and noises he hears, a talent that often gets him in and out of trouble. The channel acquired access to all 26 episodes of the series, but will air 18 in the first rotation. The show is scheduled to air at 6 p.m. on weeknights.
