Donald Trump got a feud-related clarification and a rebuttal from Barbara Walters on “The View” Wednesday.

The clarification, which Ms. Walters said she was reading at the behest of ABC, referred to comments “The View’s” Rosie O’Donnell made last month as part of a rant about why the businessman wasn’t the person to be the arbiter of morals in the Miss USA pageant he owns.

“Donald Trump has never filed for personal bankruptcy. Several of his casino companies have filed for business bankruptcy; they are out of bankruptcy now,” Ms. Walters said.

As his war of words with O’Donnell escalated before Christmas, Mr. Trump had said on CNN’s “Larry King Live” that Ms. Walters regretted hiring Ms. O’Donnell, whose first four months on “The View” have been punctuated by a string of controversial comments.

Previous incidents include an on-air riff in mock Chinese and her judgment that talk-show co-host Kelly Ripa had a homophobic reaction to Clay Aiken putting his hand over her mouth during an interview on “Live With Regis and Kelly.”

Ms. Walters said Mr. Trump was incorrect when he said she regrets having hired Ms. O’Donnell after Meredith Vieira moved to NBC to co-anchor the “Today” show.

“Nothing could be further from the truth. I have never regretted, nor do I now, the hiring of Rosie O’Donnell. She has brought a new vitality to this show and the ratings prove it,” Ms. Walters said about Ms. O’Donnell, who is on a previously planned vacation with her family. “And next Monday we will all welcome her back with open arms, yes? In the meantime, have a great vacation, Rosie.”
